Boiler Repair in Manchester, CT

Lots of houses around here still heat with a steam or hot water boiler. We repair both, from old cast iron boilers to newer high-efficiency units. Older Manchester homes and multi-family houses often have boilers, and we repair both steam and hot water types.

Call us if your boiler has

  • No heat, or the burner won't fire
  • Some radiators cold while others are hot
  • Banging or knocking pipes
  • Water on the floor around it
  • A pressure gauge reading too high or too low
  • A steam water level that bounces or drops fast

What happens on the call

  1. 1

    Check the whole system

We check the burner, controls, circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tank, and low-water cutoff. On steam, we check vents and water level.

  2. 2

    Price before we touch it

You get the repair price before any work starts. If the boiler is worth keeping, we'll say so.

  3. 3

    Bleed, test, clean up

We bleed air, check pressure and temperature, and make sure every zone heats before we leave.

Boiler Repair questions

Why are some of my radiators cold?

With hot water heat, it's usually air trapped in the radiator or a stuck zone valve. Bleeding the radiator often fixes it. With steam, a clogged air vent or a badly pitched pipe can keep steam from getting there.

My boiler is leaking. Is that an emergency?

A drip from the relief valve can mean the pressure is too high. A leak from the boiler itself can mean a cracked section. Either way, shut it off if you can do it safely and call us.

What's the difference between a steam and a hot water boiler?

A steam boiler boils water and sends steam to the radiators. It has a glass tube showing the water level. A hot water boiler stays full of water and pumps it around. It has a pressure gauge instead.

Is my old cast iron boiler worth fixing?

Often, yes. Cast iron boilers can last a long time with care. If the sections are cracked or it needs constant repairs, it may be time. Our Repair or Replace guide walks through it.
